Catherine Levey

Senior Manager

 

Catherine Levey is a Senior Manager of Protea. Prior to joining Protea, she was a Supervisor at Mazars, Port Elizabeth, were she led audits mainly in the Agricultural and Health Care industries.  

 Before joining Mazars, Catherine completed her training contract at KPMG in Port Elizabeth, where she gained experience in various sectors including automotive; public sector; academea; IT; NGO and pharmaceutical.

Catherine is registered as a Chartered Accountant (South Africa) with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.  She received an Honors Degree in Accounting from The University of Pretoria, where she also completed her undergraduate degree in Accounting.


Sonja Myburgh

Group Accounting Manager

 

Sonja Myburgh is the Group Accounting Manager being promoted to this senior management role in 2021 after previously serving as Senior Manager.

Prior to joining Protea, she was an Audit Manager at PKF in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Working with a broad host of clients – listed companies, family owned business of all sizes, non-profit organizations and government agencies.

Sonja has deep experience in various sectors including: manufacturing, broadcasting, logistics, engineering, public sector, food and consumer products.

Sonja is registered as a Chartered Accountant (South Africa) with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants. She received an Honors Degree in Accounting from the University of South Africa, where she also completed an undergraduate degree in Accounting.



Alexandra Preston

Manager

 

Alexandra Preston is a Manager at Protea. Before joining Protea in 2015, Alexandra was the Financial Manager at Eastern Province Cricket.

 Prior to this, she completed her traineeship at BDO Cape Incorporated (formerly Grant Thornton Cape Incorporated). Working on a host of clients in various sectors including: manufacturing, legal, consumer products and property investment. 

Alexandra is a qualified Chartered Accountant (SA) and is registered with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.

She completed her BCom Honors Degree and undergraduate Accounting Degree at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. She has also completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Accounting Sciences at the University of South Africa (UNISA).


Danielle du Preez

Manager

 

Danielle du Preez is a Manager at Protea. Prior to joining Protea, she was the Manager of the Bookkeeping Department at BVDM Financial Services in Port Elizabeth. She has worked with clients across various sectors including the retail, manufacturing, legal, automotive, agriculture, export, investment and FMCG sectors.

She has developed a broad experience of financial reporting and analysis, fixed assets maintenance, inventory, budgeting, forecasting, implementing new process and procedures, compliance, system upgrades and implementation and training of employees

Before taking on the Management of the Bookkeeping Department at BVDM, Danielle was part of the audit department of Bradley and van der Merwe (CA) SA where she led audit and assurance engagements across a variety of industries.

 Danielle is registered as a Professional Account with the South African Institute of Professional Accountants. She received her Bachelors Degree in Accounting from the University of South Africa.


Lauren Peters

Manager

 

Lauren Peters is a Manager at Protea. Prior to joining Protea, she was an Audit Manager at PKF in Port Elizabeth where she also completed her articles. While working with various clients she gained experience in an array of sectors including: Logistics, manufacturing, engineering, legal, food and consumer products and non-profit organizations. 

Lauren is a qualified Chartered Accountant (SA) and is registered with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants. She completed her BCom Honours Degree and undergraduate degree at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.


Michelle Bosman

Manager

 

Michelle Bosman is a Manager at Protea Financial. Prior to joining Protea, she was an Audit Manager at PKF (PE) Inc. with her role encompassing the managing of the audit department and overseeing various engagements of which she specialized in compulsory audits.

She completed her training contract at PKF (PE) Inc. where she gained exposure in various sectors including Manufacturing, Commodity trading, Investment, Retail and Wholesale concerns, Legal and Civil engineering and construction.

Michelle is registered as a Chartered Accountant (South Africa) with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants. She completed her BCom Honors Degree as well as undergraduate Accounting Degree at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.


Jason Wilson

Junior Manager

 

Jason Wilson is a Junior Manager at Protea. Prior to joining Protea, he was a Financial Controller at Hume International, a frozen food distributor situated in Port Elizabeth.

Prior to joining Hume International he completed his training contract at KPMG in Port Elizabeth. While working with various clients he gained experience in various sectors including: Manufacturing, wholesale, retail, renewable energy and the public sector. 

Jason is registered as a Chartered Accountant (South Africa). He completed his BCom Honours Degree and undergraduate degree at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.


Janet Kingston

Human Resources Supervisor

 

Janet Kingston is a Human Resources Supervisor at Protea Bookkeeping. Prior to joining Protea, she was a Human Resources Consultant at Royal HaskoningDHV (RHDHV), a multi-disciplinary Engineering Consultancy.  Janet was a business partner to the technical teams and was responsible for the HR duties within a Region which incorporated 4 offices based in South Africa.

Before joining RHDHV she held the position of HR Consultant to the Paintshop Department at VWSA, the car manufacturing plant based in Uitenhage.

She has extensive experience working in a professional environment where she was able to incorporate the full spectrum of HR functions and duties in her working day. 

Janet obtained her National Diploma in Personnel Management from Cape Technikon.  She is a member of the HR Forum which is a platform of like-minded HR practitioners sharing information, learnings and interactions.
